Piano restoration can take several forms, depending on the type of instrument, its condition, age, make and the requirements of the customer. It is unlikely, for example, that a young family which has a piano in need of repairs, will have the same requirements as a seasoned pianist owning a high-quality traditional grand piano. That said, equal importance is attached to each situation, as the needs of a youngster struggling with a defective piano are arguably just as great as those of the musician who needs her Steinway tweaked to provide a more responsive touch and a more rounded tone.
I am therefore very attuned to respond to all kinds of customer piano needs - from getting a tired old upright to function well enough for a beginner's requirements in his or her home, to the fine-tuning and intonation necessary to give the concert piano that all-important 'lift', prior to a concert or studio-recording.
On the workshop front, my reconditioning skills learnt through years of training at Steinway & Sons in London, have been finely honed through almost 30 years of practice in workshops here and abroad.
I offer full reconditioning of grand and upright pianos of all makes, including french-polishing, re-stringing, re-felting, and the highest standard of regulation and intonation. I adhere to the strictest quality control standards, with highly competitive prices and accurate delivery schedules.
I restore many instruments on-site here in London, and am glad for clients to visit me during the process, to satisfy and reassure. I also offer instruments for sale which have been professionally restored by specialist workshops abroad, and can arrange for your instrument to be restored by this method. I am able to pare costs to a minimum due to the cottage-industry nature of my set up, and the benefit of several decades' experience in the field of all aspects of piano work.
As an example of my quick turnaround of high-quality full restoration, I can state that it currently takes me approximately only six weeks from receiving an instrument, to returning it in a pristine fully-reconditioned state, including full re-polishing.
Recent restoration projects include two magnificent concert grand pianos which you can see here:
